Export a Scene from Autodesk Maya Using PVRGeoPOD

Scene data can be exported from Maya using PVRGeoPOD by selecting either Export All or Export Selection from the file menu

Once PVRGeoPOD plugin has been installed and activated in the Autodesk Maya Plugin Manager, it becomes possible to export to the POD format using the following steps:

  1. Open the desired Autodesk Maya scene file that needs to be converted.
  2. Click File -> Export All to export an entire scene or File -> Export Selection to export part of it. This will launch Maya's export dialog box.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and then select Export All or Export Selection, as appropriate. This will launch the PVRGeoPOD GUI where the export options can be customised.

It is also possible to export using a MEL script. The MEL commands that can be used are as follows:

PVRGeoPOD_Export(“filename.pod”)

The command exports the scene to filename.pod using the previously defined export options.

PVRGeoPOD_Export(“filename.pod”, “optionsfilename.txt”)

The command exports the scene to filename.pod using the export options defined in optionsfilename.txt.

PVRGeoPOD_Export(“filename.pod” “optionsfilename.txt”, “selected”)

The command exports the currently selected meshes to filename.pod using the export options defined in optionsfilename.txt.
